John Crouch

I live in east-central Illinois, where I am a 6th-generation grain farmer. I have been married to Shelley (Rea) for over 41 years and have three children and two grandchildren. I have an amazing family!!

I grew up in a musical family and can't remember a time when it wasn't an important part of my life. My grandmother, Evelyn Crouch, and my great uncle, Paul Rowland, played music for us whenever they were together. She played keyboards, and he played guitar. When I later took up the guitar myself, Uncle Paul became my inspiration. He is a true master at Travis-style picking and one of the most talented yet humble men I know.

I love writing and have written more than 100 songs. I enjoy all kinds of writing, including poetry, and find it much easier to express myself in writing than in conversation. I can be a bit of an introvert.

My voice lends itself best to country music, but I love all different genres, including, but not limited to, Americana, Christian, and folk music.

Now 64, I didn't take up the guitar until my late 40s. I have finished my third CD, and they are available wherever you stream music.

I play at local eateries, churches, coffee shops, art galleries, wineries, etc. I am only beginning to venture out of my comfort zone - my own living room!!
